Belgium—born music composer and producer Jerome Arthur started composing music from the age of 15. His first instruments were the old organs and guitars his musical dad played in the family home — jazz mostly — which allowed him to experiment with sound, melody and harmony at a very early stage in his life. |
“Learning how to play the guitar and organ were equal to finding a way to express the melodies I heard in my head at that age,” Arthur explains. “Playing music has always had an almost exhibitionistic character to me: I can't play off a sheet of paper, I can't play on demand. What I play is what comes straight from the heart. It is an honest expression of a chaotic mix of raw emotions. This is also how I record music.” |
Jerome's music has been described as atmospheric, delicate. ""Having a rock/folk/jazz background, I was blown away by the electronic revival around 2000, with bands like Air, Thievery Corporation and the Buddha Bar albums. Since then I've been looking for a balanced mix between guitar music and electronica, between a cool groove, an imaginative atmosphere and a persuasive communication of a set of raw emotions" says Arthur. |
| Arthur has collaborated with musicians in Belgium and South Africa, but prefers to work on his own - spending hours and hours in his home studio, writing, re-writing and recording songs. |
